Urban Gardening - Growing Onion in Container

Saturday, April 04, 2015 | Publish by My CookBook

Some people like growing flowers for decorating their living space, rooms, balcony, yard, garden, but more and more people lately realize importance of having healthy food available in our home and they switched from flowers to vegetables and herbs. Being bombed by GM ingredients in everything we buy in shops, offer of fruit and vegetables came to only that which is heavily sprayed with insecticides and herbicides, growing own food became necessity.

On my regular walk the other day something caught my attention. In front of one shop found concrete container in which instead of flowers shop owners growing spring onions. Obviously they thought it is better during their lunch break in shop to use onions from own garden than to rush to market and buy some. Saves time, money and besides that, they know it's healthy food they eat and not treated with chemicals.

I hope this photo inspired you to start using those flower containers all people like to hang around balcony and instead of some spring flowers, plant spring onions. That way you can grow something healthy for your family and also make your balcony green. And why not growing food in every street around the globe actually? Why not using seed or plants after we finished sowing/planting garden and simply sow/plant in containers placing them by the fence where anyone can reach, with clearly visible sign "If you are hungry, pluck it"? What can be better than doing something for needy?
