How to Grow an Avocado Tree

Sunday, March 15, 2015 | Publish by My CookBook

Growing an avocado tree is simple. Just open an avocado and remove the pit. How to open? Make a cut longways around avocado and then twist it apart. That will separate avocado halves nicely. Then hit the pit with a knife, but not too much, just enough to make knife stay in it and twist the blade. That will pull the pit out.

Clean and wash the avocado pit gently under running water to remove all pieces of avocado which are left there. Wipe it off and then take 3-4 toothpicks and stick them in. Place avocado in some smaller bowl or a glass. Fill the glass with water so that half avocado is submersed. Change water every two days making sure that avocado is always in water up to half. Place glass with avocado near window on sunny side. It will take about three weeks for top of the pit to open and stem will start coming out. That will be followed by first leaves and root will come out from the bottom side of the pit.
