If you bought potato and after some time noticed it sprouted, don't throw away. It happens almost to everyone when spring gets closer. This potato can be used to grow some in your kitchen while temperature is still too low outside, or even later on your balcony using containers.
What containers can be used? Simply use some old plastic paint buckets, make little holes on the bottom for water draining, use bucket cover to put under, get some rich soil and plant your potatoes. Don't forget to hill potatoes and that way increase yield. Why that matters? When you hill potatoes, length of steam beneath increases and with that increases number of potatoes.
How to hill them? There are two ways. Either add more soil around plants, or simply hill soil around them. You don't have to wait until potato fully grows, start using young potatoes 'stealing' bigger and covering the rest with soil again.
