Growing potato usual way we all know. But did you know you can grow them in containers, straw bale, bag, bucket, old tire, tire tower? Almost anything can be used for growing potatoes if you have big enough imagination. Until you discover new options and get some ideas, try some of these and results will be good for sure.

One thing to remember, your potato seed must start sprouting before you plant it. How to make that happen? Spread potato in a wooden box and place somewhere near the window to get sunlight. That should be done 3-4 weeks before planting. Be gentle with potatoes when you plant them and make sure not to damage sprouts. Bigger potatoes you can cut with knife on few pieces, but make sure that each has one eye on it. Then simply plant them.

If you decide to grow potatoes earlier, you can do that in bags or buckets, but don’t leave them outside during the night. Every morning take them out when frost is gone, place on sunny spot and evening before dark take them inside. That way you will protect potato which is very sensitive to low temperature.
